A biblical perspective of death:
- enables a divine view of life.
- demands we see death for what it is: a defeated enemy. (Acts 2:24 Hebrews 2:14,15)
- views death as a glorious promotion. (Colossians 3:1-4, 1 Peter 1:3-8)
- causes us to loose our grip on the fading glories of this present world. (1 Corinthians 7:29-32, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
- understands the value of dying daily. (Luke 9:23, Romans 8:13, Colossians 3:5)
This message by Pastor Rod Harris was delivered at Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday morning, April 22, 2007, and was taken from Mark 1:14-28.
Many have distorted who Jesus really is. Today’s passage provides three snapshots that give us a picture of who the Jesus of Scripture really is.
- Vs. 14, 15:Â Our righteous saviour unflinchingly calls sinful, fallen, corrupt people to repentance.
- Vs. 16-20: This righteous saviour of ours also requires unquestioned and absolute allegiance and devotion.
- Vs. 21- 28: Our sovereign Lord dares to confront the enemy head on.
Who is Jesus to you? What is He like? What does He demand of you? If He is just a friend who helps you when you get into trouble, then you have never met the Jesus of Scripture. Have you encountered the Jesus of Scripture?

This message by Pastor Rod Harris was delivered at Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday morning, April 15, 2007, and was taken from Mark 1:1-13.
Mark’s gospel lacks the royalty of Matthew, the thoroughness of Luke, and the mysticism of John, but makes up for it in earnest excitement. In the first verse we find the essence of the entire book of Mark. In this introduction, Mark gives three testimonies to the validity of the person of Jesus:
- Vs. 1-8: The ministry of John the Baptist as forerunner identifies Jesus as the coming Messiah.
- Vs. 9-11: At Jesus baptism, His Father affirms Him to be the unique son of God.
- Vs. 12, 13: Jesus’ wilderness temptation marks Him as our sympathetic savior.
