It is part of a long chain of unfortunate actions taken by those within SBC life against the doctrines of grace. I agree with you wholeheartedly about some who are more concerned about the petals of the TULIP than about the cross of Christ, and which grieves me even more. I admire the approach your pastor has taken and am glad to have him as a friend. I’m grieved over this whole affair. I think both sides of these issues might be better served to call things what they are. In a lot of ways Arbuckle is showing more integrity that the "Building Bridges" people. Disagreement over theology is not always bad. But it is wrong to pretend like we're talking about the same thing when we both know we're not.
