My Church

trinitychurch.jpgWell, it’s not actually mine. It’s the Lord Jesus Christ’s Church, a fact that few Southern Baptists realize. The SBC would be much better off if more grasped this. This would also be a first step in keeping Landmarkism to a minimum. By mine I mean that local body of believers that I am in covenant with; to labor, love, and worship with; to be a community in the larger Church with.

My church is Trinity Baptist Church. My wife and I have worshiped there since 2001. Together she and I teach a College & Carrer Sunday-school class. She sings in the choir and I help out in the sound booth, recording the sermons, and getting them ready for a podcast that I manage here on this blog. I also manage our church’s website.

Why do I worship here? There are two main reasons. First, the word of God is faithfully preached here, week in, week out. My pastor, Rod Harris is a sound biblical expositor who believes that Christ is at the center of all Scripture, and further believes that expository preaching – preaching through whole books of the Bible – is the best way to handle God’s word from the pulpit. The second reason my wife and I are in covenant with Trinity Baptist Church is that it is made up of people who love Christ and his Church.

If you are ever in the Tulsa, passing through, or you happen to live in the Tulsa area and do not have a church home, we would love for you to give us a visit.
